You won't find any shops or banks here, but with so much natural beauty it’ll make for a great break from civilisation, the beautiful palm-fringed island with perfect white sandy beaches, placid lagoons and a real "island feel" is the perfect budget getaway. The beaches here are exquisite and the best way to see them is by hopping on and off the fast Yasawa Flyer catamaran – the most popular backpacker trail in Fiji – and staying at the many locally owned budget resorts along the way.
Visiting the islands once was limited to cruise ships, and passengers were forbidden to actually set foot on the Yasawas until the 1950s. Thanks to a Government ecotourism initiative, the islands are now dotted with accommodation options. Most visitors spend their days sunbathing, snorkelling or scuba diving, with sightseeing limited to hiking between small villages or trekking to a hilltop to see the sunset.
With gorgeous beaches, abundant sunshine and a range of backpacker resorts, this is the place to come for an affordable retreat in paradise.
